Healing The Sick

Healing The Sick

Have you ever been frustrated with an infirmity hurting a loved one? Well today, we’re gonna discuss how as a Christian, we can operate in our God-given ability to heal the sick, & demonstrate God’s power in a practical way(Matthew 10:8).

If you’ve missed the last couple of teachings, I’d encourage you to go back & read up on them. We talked about one of the most fun ways that we as Christians demonstrate God’s power, casting out demons/deliverance.

One day I’ll give a few testimonies here on my experiences with healing the sick & being healed myself, but for now just know that I wouldn’t have even made it out of the womb had it not been for God’s healing power.

If there is one thing that humanity needs today, it’s healing. That’s why God placed His children here on Earth. Often times from what I’ve seen though, we as the body of Christ don’t use our God-given ability to heal the sick as often as we should. Here’s where that changes.

I’m gonna put this in the most practical way I can, so the next time you come across someone who needs to experience God’s love & power, you can hop into action.

Quick disclaimer, we serve a God of variety. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus always demonstrated His power in different ways, & as His student you’re going to have ups and downs throughout your experiences in demonstrating. Don’t worry though, this is Scriptural(Matthew 17:14-21; Romans 3:23). Don’t get caught in the lie that if you don’t do it perfectly every time or if someone doesn’t get healed that you did something wrong. There’s no shame in messing up, because we get better as we go(2 Corinthians 3:18). Some healings happen very quickly, & others take time. Remember, no two experiences are the same. Just stay in faith.

Also, make sure that you have the faith to do whatever you’re demonstrating, & be sure that it lines up with His Word(Matthew 17:20; Hebrews 11:6; Mark 10:27). The last thing we want to do is make ourselves look foolish & bring a reproach on God because we’re out of alignment with Him. Once again, always follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit & His Word.

Here’s a few ways that you can heal the sick:

  • Laying hands- Jesus said in Mark 16:18, that we will “lay hands on the sick, and they will recover”. Jesus demonstrated this in Matthew 8:14, Matthew 9:29-30, & Mark 1:40-42. It can be as easy as you laying your hand on someone.
  • Speak to the sickness & command it to leave and/or the person to be healed- Jesus did this a ton. Check out Proverbs 18:21, Matthew 8:16-17, Acts 3:1-10 and Mark 2:10-12.
  • Pray for them– The Bible says in 1 John 5:14-15, “And we are confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases Him. And since we know He hears us when we make our requests, we also know that He will give us what we ask for.” God’s will is for us to walk in His healing, all we have to do is ask(Isaiah 53:5; Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 4:15-16). I encourage you to check out this miracle service, public healing, or this miracle healing for reference & to increase your faith(I’d recommend fast forwarding to the 2:25:00 mark for the 1st video).
  • You can heal someone through deliverance– If demons can cause addictions & mental illnesses, you better believe that they can cause sickness. Check out Luke 8:26-36 & Luke 13:10-13. You can refer to the previous teachings I linked above for more on that.

Quite honestly you’ll probably combine the first three in most cases of you healing someone in person.

Here are some scriptures that you can use when praying for healing & that I myself use quite frequently:

  • Isaiah 53:5
  • Proverbs 18:21
  • Mark 11:24
  • Romans 8:37
  • John 14:13-14
  • Psalm 119:160
  • Matthew 7:7-8
  • John 14:12
  • Romans 8:32
  • Psalm 103:3

I pray this helps you in your efforts to see the power of God manifested in your life & the Kingdom advanced for His glory.

Jesus love you & so do I. Be blessed!
